Zoo School Neuwied Expands Offerings with New Building, Lions Club Support

The Zoo School of Zoo Neuwied, operating for over three decades, has seen a significant boost in its educational offerings, thanks to a new building and the support of the Lions Club Neuwied - Andernach.

The Lions Club Neuwied - Andernach, under the mediation of former county councilor and zoo enthusiast Mr. Mahlert, has fully financed 25 trips for primary schools in Neuwied and Andernach to visit the zoo.

The new Zoo School building has allowed the school's offerings to expand significantly. One of the new additions is a primary school unit focused on Humboldt penguins, which has already attracted registrations for the 2025/2026 school year, with 15 bus trips booked.

However, the Zoo School faces challenges. Transport costs for school groups have risen, making visits unaffordable for many schools. Additionally, the lack of connection to public transport hampers the use of the zoo's offerings. The Lions Club Neuwied – Andernach is working to improve public transport for school group visits.

The Zoo School of Zoo Neuwied, with its expanded offerings and the support of the Lions Club Neuwied - Andernach, is making strides in providing quality education. However, addressing transport challenges is crucial for ensuring accessibility for all schools.
