Weekly Crusader Highlight: Julia Kane (April 25)

In the vibrant academic community of Holy Cross College, Julia Kane '27 stands out as a Political Science and International Studies major with a penchant for adventure and a love for her hometown of Wilmington, Massachusetts.

With a diverse range of interests, Kane's favourite TV shows span from the witty banter of Gilmore Girls to the suspenseful tales of American Horror Story, the quirky humour of Severance, and the heartwarming camaraderie of Ted Lasso. Her musical tastes are equally eclectic, with Cage the Elephant as her favourite band and a fondness for the melodies of Lana del Rey and Inhaler.

When it comes to her favourite books, Kane is a dedicated fan of the classic Pride and Prejudice. Her love for the arts extends to cinema, where she counts La La Land and The Grand Budapest Hotel among her favourite films.

On campus, Kane has a soft spot for the Rodino English Library and the Kimball dining hall, where she cherishes the Everything-seasoned salmon with white rice and broccoli. Her favourite memory at Holy Cross so far is the barricade for the Spring concert in 2024, an event she hopes to see expanded with the addition of a fall concert in the future.

Off campus, Kane enjoys dining at The Mercantile or Thai Time, and when she's not studying, she finds joy in drawing, spending time with friends at their 5 PM nightly dinner at Kimball, and studying outside when the weather is sunny.

Kane's guilty pleasure is consuming too much Redbull, a habit she knows will eventually catch up with her heart. But for now, she lives by the words of the Eagles: "Take it easy."

In her free time, Kane looks forward to visiting her family, her dog Charm, and her friends at Pressed Cafe when she goes home. Her favourite place she's travelled to is Dresden, Germany, but she holds a special place in her heart for her grandparents' condo in Laconia, NH and the Weirs Drive-In.

An embarrassing moment for Kane occurred when she accidentally answered a question in Spanish in her class right after Spanish. Despite this, she remains an active and engaged member of the Holy Cross community, participating in various campus activities and achieving academic success.

Kane's favourite Cool Beans drink is an iced matcha with vanilla, a refreshing choice that mirrors her approachable and straightforward style. As she looks towards her post-graduation plans, Kane hopes to travel and pursue a career within the Massachusetts State Government.
