Vietnam Dazzles at Hakuna Matata Festival with Cultural Showcase
The Hakuna Matata Festival in Brussels, an annual event celebrating cultural diversity, recently took place with a focus on unity and peace. Vietnam's participation, led by the Intercultural Vietnam and Pacific Centre in Brussels (IVB), added a vibrant touch to the festival, showcasing Vietnamese culture and promoting international understanding.
The Vietnamese Pavilion, organised by IVB, offered visitors a glimpse into Vietnam's rich heritage. Traditional attire, such as áo dài, and conical hats were on display, while traditional poetry recitals captivated audiences. The pavilion also served as a hub for culinary delights, offering tropical fruits, fresh produce, and mooncakes, with visitors encouraged to participate in making these symbolic treats.
Calligrapher Jean Sébastien played a significant role at the pavilion. He introduced the Vietnamese script to international audiences and shared stories of the Temple of Literature, further enriching the cultural exchange. The festival, themed 'Together for Peace', gathered communities from Africa, Asia, and Latin America, fostering solidarity and cultural sharing. Local children and festival-goers expressed excitement in experiencing Vietnamese culture, underscoring the festival's mission to promote understanding and unity.
