Tourist numbers from Europe and the Middle East surging at TAT
It seems the balls are rolling for Thailand's tourism scene, fam! The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has got some exciting numbers up its sleeve, with a focus on Europe and the Middle East.
The TAT bods couldn't be happier with the increasingly promising signs from some high roller European markets. They're all about that action since early June, y'hear? Germany's been chopping it up, taking the lead with a 71% surge in tourist arrivals, followed by Italy with a 28% increase, and Switzerland sizzling things up with a 24% boost.
It's not just about the old continent, though. The Middle East's feeling the vibe too, entering their peak travel season. Saudi Arabia's leading the charge with a 61% growth, swinging side by side with Oman (54%), UAE (51%), and even Israel (32.49%) throwing their hats in the ring.
Toss in Malaysia, and you've got a winning combo. Malay tourists have taken over the number one spot for foreign arrivals at the beginning of June, with a 13.22% rise, leaving the Chinese in the dust.
Sign-up for 2025, and 15.543 million foreign tourists have already stamped their passports in Thailand from January 1 to June 9. The countries with the most significant gains include India, Russia, the UK, USA, Germany, Japan, France, and Australia.
But wait, there's more! TAT's keeping an eye on those mid-sized markets too. Israel, Italy, Canada, Poland, Netherlands, and Sweden are all showing some serious potential, pals.
Looking ahead, bookings for the third quarter (July-September 2025) and the winter slot (October-December) are looking pippin' hot, with double-digit growth expected across the board. TAT's keen on focusing on quality markets for the rest of the year, aiming for the UK, Germany, Russia, France, and the USA.
Catch me later, and we'll dive deeper into the enticing tourism landscape in Thailand, revealing promising trends and potential pitstops on your bucket list!
