Drive Aware: Beware of Intense Traffic on these Southwestern Highways this Holiday Weekend
Southwestern streets anticipated to be bustling by holiday's conclusion - Southwestern streets anticipated to reach capacity by the holiday's conclusion.
Hey there, fellow motorists! Be prepared for some bumper-to-bumper action, especially in the beautiful region of Baden-Württemberg. The ADAC Württemberg has the scoop - they're predicting a traffic showdown around Corpus Christi and the wind-down of Pentecost holidays. And guess where it's gonna be the worst? Those northbound motorways, y'all!
The reason? Well, lots of folks are making the most of the long weekend for a quick getaway. Add to that the ending of the two-week Pentecost holidays in Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria on Sunday, and you have yourself a gridlock situation!
ADAC's words of wisdom:
ADAC expert Holger Bach suggests flexing your time schedule if you can. Drive on Thursday to dodge the crowds, or if you gotta go on the weekend, try before 8:00 AM or after 6:00 PM to dodge the epic traffic jams.
So, which routes are gonna be the busiest? Here's the list you need:
- A5 (Basel - Karlsruhe - Heidelberg)
- A6 (Nuremberg - Heilbronn - Mannheim)
- A7 (Füssen - Ulm - Würzburg)
- A8 (Munich - Stuttgart - Karlsruhe)
- A81 (Singen - Stuttgart - Heilbronn)
- Greater Stuttgart area
But that's not all! There are several construction sites adding to the slow-down. The A8 near Pforzheim and the A6 between Walldorf interchange and Wiesloch might give you a real headache. Last year, the total traffic jam length in the state at the end of Pentecost holidays (Sunday) was a whopping 416 kilometers!
By the way, traffic jams aren't just happening in our neck of the woods - our neighbors in Austria and Switzerland are also bracing for bottlenecks. Keep an eye out for delays on the Tauern and Brenner motorways, as well as at the Gotthard tunnel. Now that you know, pack some drinks, take regular breaks, and never leave children or pets in the car when it's hot, y'all!
So, plan ahead, drive safe, and enjoy your holiday weekend, staying clear of those traffic jams as much as possible! Remember, flexibility is key to a smooth holiday drive!
