Lake Constance, often referred to as the Swabian Sea, is one of the top three bathing holiday destinations in Europe, according to the online travel magazine Travelbook. This large freshwater lake, spanning Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, is renowned for its charming lakeside towns, beautiful scenery, and a perfect combination of leisure activities such as swimming and boating.

The lake offers various beaches and bathing spots ideal for summer swimming and relaxation. Its surroundings include picturesque towns and well-maintained promenades for visitors to enjoy. The clean freshwater and mild climate make it attractive for both families and water sport enthusiasts.

Meersburg, a town on the shores of Lake Constance, secured third place among the most beautiful small towns in the DACH region in a Travelbook Award. Its historic charm and lake panorama enchant locals and holidaymakers from all over the country.

The region of Baden-Württemberg, where Lake Constance is located, is ranked among the absolute dream destinations in Europe for summer vacations. It offers a variety of outdoor experiences, including mysterious forests, clear mountain lakes, and hiking trails.

In addition to Lake Constance, Sigmaringen, another town in the southwest, made it into the top ten of the most beautiful small towns in the DACH region. The region enchants with water, forest, and a wow factor, making it a standout European destination.

Travelbook also ranks the Black Forest, along with Norway and Scotland, as one of the three best regions for an active holiday in August. Nature, hiking, and regional cuisine are particularly popular in Baden-Württemberg.

Overall, 94 percent of Baden-Württemberg residents find their own federal state an attractive holiday destination, especially for short breaks. This high percentage underscores the appeal of Lake Constance and the surrounding region as a top European bathing destination.
