Over 400 Agricultural Leaders Gather in Jakarta to Strengthen U.S.-S.E. Asia Trade
Over 400 agricultural leaders and stakeholders from more than 20 countries gathered in Jakarta, Indonesia, from September 15 to 17, 2025, for the S.E. Asia U.S. Agricultural Cooperators Conference. The event, co-organized by the U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC) and the U.S. Grains & BioProducts Council, focused on strengthening global trade, building resilient supply chains, and ensuring long-term food security.
The conference highlighted the importance of transparency, trust, and innovation in global trade. It comes at a time when Southeast Asia's demand for U.S. soybeans is surging. In Marketing Year 2023/24, the region imported approximately 9.08 million metric tons of whole soybeans and 20.89 million metric tons of soybean meal. Indonesia, the largest importer of U.S. soybeans for food use in Southeast Asia, plays a significant role in this global entry.
The U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC) focuses on differentiating, elevating preference, and attaining market access for U.S. Soy globally. Funded by the soy checkoff, USDA Foreign Agricultural Service matching funds, and industry, USSEC works to promote U.S. soy products and ensure they meet the highest standards of quality and sustainability.
The S.E. Asia U.S. Agricultural Cooperators Conference in Jakarta underscored the importance of collaboration and cooperation in global agricultural trade. With Southeast Asia's growing demand for U.S. soybeans, the conference provided a platform for stakeholders to discuss and address key issues in the sector, fostering stronger ties and more resilient supply chains.
