New Design and App Version of FreeKarte 2.0 Introduced for Children and Youth in Bremen
New FreeCard 2.0 Smartphone App Launches in Bremen and Bremerhaven
Starting from June 1, 2024, the FreeCard 2.0 will be usable at participating leisure facilities in Bremen and Bremerhaven. To complement the existing website, a new smartphone app has been developed as part of the FreeCard 2.0 program.
The app, available for download, will provide another convenient way to unlock the FreeCard 2.0. With it, users can view previous redemptions and the remaining credit as of the previous day. The app also lists all participating facilities and is constantly updated.
Parents can manage all the cards of their family simultaneously in the app, making it easier to keep track of the FreeCard 2.0 usage. From May 2024, the new FreeCards 2.0 will be distributed, with the dispatch of the cards and security codes for activation beginning at the end of May.
The design of the new FreeCard was chosen by students in an online vote, and the design reveal image is courtesy of the Senate press office. The new design and app for the FreeCard 2.0 were the result of the participation of 14 students from 165 schools.
The FreeCard 2.0 can be used to pay for admission to various facilities such as cinemas, swimming pools, museums, laser tag arenas, and more. Each card will be loaded with 60 euros of credit initially, and another 60 euros will be automatically added in early 2025.
In some cases, required equipment such as special shoes can be rented out with the FreeCard 2.0. To ensure delivery, the last names of the children should be clearly visible on the mailboxes. The new FreeCards 2.0 will be sent to all eligible persons under 18 years of age with their main residence in Bremen or Bremerhaven, including newborns, children, and young people newly moved to the state.
Unfortunately, the source of the idea for the new design change of FreeCards 2.0 remains unknown. However, a survey conducted on the learning platform "itslearning" contributed to the update of the FreeCard 2.0's design.
The FreeCard 2.0 will revolutionise the way young people in Bremen and Bremerhaven access leisure facilities, providing a modern and convenient solution for all.
