11th "Field Kitchen" Festival Celebrates Yakutian Cuisine
The 11th "Field Kitchen" festival, a celebration of Yakutian cuisine and culture, took place on August 3rd, behind Ust Khytana. The warm and friendly atmosphere welcomed 10 teams, including the Hangalass team "Suorunnaakh", the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resource Use of Yakutia, the Amga team led by Stepan Kuzmin, the united team from NVC "Saha", "ArcticTelecom", the team from the Mountain District, and others.
The festival, organised by the Borisov family and their friends, was dedicated to Alexander Ilyich Borisov, the organiser and host of the popular "Hunting and Fishing in Yakutia" TV show. Sardanа Germogenova, a biology and chemistry teacher from Pokrovsk School No. 2, contributed to the event with a refreshing herbal tea made from Ivan tea and mushrooms.
The Hangalass team "Suorunnaakh" received a certificate worth 10,000 for their original recipe of bear burgers. The Amga team, led by Stepan Kuzmin, the head of the district, was awarded a three-legged cauldron with a pot and a pipe for cooking all dishes using local products, including flour. The united team from NVC "Saha" took third place.
"ArcticTelecom" took first place in the festival, but the specifics of their winning dish were not disclosed. The team from the Mountain District, led by Nikita Andreyev, received a tent-pavilion prize for their dishes made from maral root and grilled carp, caught near Berdigestyakh.
The "Taste of Victory" expert team received a 13,000 spinning rod for their fish soup made from pike, perch, and sturgeon. Many participants knew Borisov personally, as he was affectionately called.
