Massive Indoor Leisure Complex set to Debut in the UK, featuring cutting-edge water park attractions and thermal spas, at a whopping cost of £100million.

The Therme Group, a renowned company in the spa and wellness industry, is set to bring its unique blend of relaxation and entertainment to the UK with two major projects: Therme Scotland and Therme Manchester.

Therme Manchester, initially announced in March 2020, is still in progress with an initial opening planned for 2024. The build is predicted to take between 24 and 30 months, potentially meaning it won't open until 2028. When it does, visitors can expect 25 swimming pools, 35 water slides, and an indoor beach. The cost of building Therme Manchester has increased from £250million to £400million.

On the other hand, Therme Scotland is expected to update designs ahead of formal planning submission in late 2025, forming part of Peel Waters in Glasgow. The complex is planned to open next to the Riverside Museum at a cost of £100million. Initial plans included a bridge being built across the River Kelvin, linking the Riverside Museum to Therme Scotland and expanding access to the Glasgow waterfront.

While specific details about Therme Scotland are scarce, the project is likely to have a next-generation indoor waterpark with 35 water slides, 25 pools (indoor and outdoor), and a wave pool, similar to other Therme projects. It's also expected to feature wellness, mineral baths, botanical/nature elements, and wellness treatments.

The Therme Group's CEO, Stelian Iacob, stated that Therme Scotland will provide a fun and accessible experience with health and wellbeing benefits. The company confirmed the build was still going ahead in a recent Instagram update.

As for the timeline, Therme Scotland in Glasgow is currently scheduled to open in 2030, according to the latest available information. This date is notably later than some other Therme projects in the UK, such as Therme Manchester, which aims to open around 2027 after delays.

In summary:

  • Therme Manchester is set to open in 2024, with 25 swimming pools, 35 water slides, and an indoor beach.
  • Therme Scotland is planned for 2030, with a next-generation indoor waterpark, wellness facilities, and landscaped relaxation areas.
  • Both projects are part of the Therme Group's global expansion plans.
