Latvia's Food Union Opens 'Kārums' Pop-Up at Riga Airport
Food Union, Latvia's leading dairy producer, has opened a 'Kārums' pop-up store at Riga Airport. The store, a collaboration with ATU Duty Free, serves as an 'embassy' for the brand, allowing locals to stock up and international visitors to discover its products.
The pop-up store, open daily until October 30th in the Departures area, celebrates Kārums' success in international markets. It offers all 16 flavors of Kārums' curd snacks and a new souvenir collection featuring 'sieriņi' socks, a porcelain plate, and a crow plush toy.
Food Union's main competence lies in fresh dairy products and ice cream, focusing on high-value-added products made from quality Latvian milk. The company's export sales accounted for one-third of its total turnover in 2024, amounting to EUR 45.7 million. Food Union plans to expand its exports to Malta, Belgium, and Serbia in 2025, while maintaining a strong presence in Ukraine, Lithuania, and Estonia. The company aims to grow Kārums' exports by 15% this year, following a 52% increase last year. In 2024, Food Union exported to 30 countries, including new destinations like Canada, Finland, the UAE, Sweden, Lebanon, Oman, and Egypt.
The 'Kārums' pop-up store at Riga Airport showcases Food Union's commitment to international growth. With a wide range of products and souvenirs, it caters to both local and international customers. The company's export strategy, backed by Arla Foods, aims to further expand its reach in 2025.
