IndiGo Airlines set to commence operations on six new flight routes, among which four are part of the UDAN initiative.
IndiGo, India's leading airline, is set to enhance its operations in Tier II cities with the launch of new flights to Kolkata, Allahabad, Raipur, and Jabalpur. This strategic move aims to bolster connectivity among these cities and cater to the growing demand from business and leisure travellers.
Starting from June 22, 2019, IndiGo will introduce six new connections, including a route between Kolkata and Jabalpur. The Kolkata-Jabalpur flights will be serviced by an ATR aircraft, ensuring a smooth and efficient travel experience. Fares for these new flights start from INR 1,999, making them an affordable option for travellers.
The introduction of the Kolkata-Jabalpur flights is the latest addition to IndiGo's operations on Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) routes. This move will further strengthen IndiGo's point-to-point connectivity, enabling customers to save both time and money.
IndiGo's expansion plan for Tier II cities in India involves strategic growth through new routes and strategic hub development. The airline is set to commence over 70 weekly departures to nine destinations from Hindon Airport, including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Indore, Kolkata, Mumbai, Patna, Varanasi, and Goa. This move aims to provide additional gateways for passengers in the surrounding region.
IndiGo also operates flights to Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities under the UDAN program, which focuses on enhancing regional connectivity. The airline has also introduced Puducherry and Bikaner as new destinations this year, aligning with its broader strategy to serve more underserved areas.
While IndiGo is expanding its operations, the airline's CEO, Pieter Elbers, emphasizes the importance of developing bigger, better, and smoother airports rather than adding new ones. This highlights a focus on improving existing infrastructure to support growth. IndiGo's long-term goal is to become a pan-Asian mega carrier, which involves laying the groundwork for the next two decades of aviation leadership. This strategy includes enhancing connectivity and expanding its fleet to support both domestic and international routes.
Customers can book tickets for the new Kolkata-Jabalpur flights and other new connections via the official IndiGo website: www.goindigo.in. With IndiGo's commitment to providing affordable and efficient travel options, these new flights are set to revolutionise travel in India's Tier II cities.
By introducing the Kolkata-Jabalpur flights, IndiGo is expanding its travel options to cater to the lifestyle needs of business and leisure travelers in Tier II cities. This strategic move is also a part of IndiGo's long-term goal to become a pan-Asian mega carrier, revolutionizing travel in India's under-served regions.
