Thomas Muether, ADAC North Rhine's spokesperson, put it simply: "Why risk a hefty fine when it's just as easy to inform yourself before the trip?"
It's not all about speed limits, folks! Many European metropolises have enforced access restrictions or bans on diesel and gasoline vehicles, dubbed "environmental zones," or even city tolls. Sometimes, these zones require a paid environmental sticker for entry.
Take a peek at Europe's bustling cities, such as Antwerp, Brussels, and Ghent in Belgium, where German vehicles require registration for access to their environmental zones. Or head over to France, where paid environmental stickers are compulsory in cities like Lyon, Paris, and Strasbourg either year-round or temporarily. In the Netherlands, several cities have differential restrictions based on a vehicle's emission standards for older cars.
