American Airlines and Qantas Offer Up to 25,000 Bonus Miles on Flights to Australia and New Zealand

American Airlines is offering its AAdvantage members a chance to earn up to 25,000 bonus miles on flights to Australia and New Zealand. The promotion, which runs until May 31, 2026, is open to many members and can be a great opportunity to boost your mileage balance.

To qualify for the bonus miles, you'll need to register for the promotion by August 7, 2025, in your AAdvantage account's Rewards Hub or promotions tab. After registration, you'll need to book eligible American Airlines or Qantas flights by the same date.

The promotion applies only to flights between the U.S. and Australia or New Zealand, plus connecting flights within those countries. Flights from the U.S. to Australia and/or New Zealand are eligible for bonus miles, but domestic U.S. legs do not earn bonus miles.

The bonus miles you earn will depend on the fare class of your ticket. Members flying in first class, business class, or premium economy can earn 100% bonus miles, while those in the main cabin can earn 50% bonus miles. Basic economy fares aren't eligible for bonus miles in this offer.

It's important to note that bonus miles don't count toward elite status or Million Miler qualification. Bonus miles will post to your account within 14 days of eligible flights.

There are some blackout dates to be aware of. Flights departing between December 15, 2025, and January 12, 2026, aren't eligible for bonus miles. Award tickets also don't qualify for bonus miles.

You can earn the full 25,000 bonus miles by booking and flying eligible premium cabins, registering early, and flying on qualifying routes and dates. There's no requirement to book round-trip itineraries to qualify, and there's no prohibition on earning bonus miles on more than one trip during this promotion.
