Egypt Tightens Travel Rules: Kazakhs Need Visas, New Money Limits, & Sharm El Sheikh Export Restrictions

Egypt has updated its travel and export regulations. Kazakh residents now require a visa to enter, and new rules govern what Egyptians can bring into the country. Meanwhile, Sharm El Sheikh has tightened its export restrictions.

Kazakh travelers must now obtain a visa from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs or Egyptian diplomatic missions before flying to Egypt. Previously, they could enter visa-free.

For Egyptians, the maximum amount of money they can bring into the country has been set at $10,000, with a mandatory declaration. They can also bring up to 5,000 Egyptian pounds in local currency. The limit for taking money out of Egypt remains $10,000.

Egyptians under 21 are no longer allowed to travel to Sharm El Sheikh independently. They can only enter with parents or close relatives, or with a notarized power of attorney.

Export restrictions have also been updated. Narcotics, weapons, and electronic devices beyond personal use are now prohibited for export from Egypt. In Sharm El Sheikh, meat, dairy products, eggs, seeds, drones, binoculars, and 'spy equipment' are also banned for export.

These changes aim to strengthen Egypt's border control and security. Travelers are advised to check the latest regulations before planning their trips.
