Edmundsklamm, a well-known tourist attraction, resumes operations - Edmundsklamm, well-known attraction, set to resume operations.

After a period of closure due to safety concerns following the 2022 forest fires, the Edmundsklamm gorge in Bohemian Switzerland has reopened with strict safety and access restrictions.

**Entry Limitations**

Only 50 visitors per day are allowed into the gorge, all of whom must join a guided tour. Tickets are sold exclusively at the tourist information office in Hřensko, and only for the current day. Visitors with baby carriages, dogs, small children, or limited mobility are currently not allowed to enter due to safety concerns. Access may be suspended in bad weather, with decisions made on a day-to-day basis.

**Access and Experience**

Boat tours are limited; boats turn back at the end of the gorge, so it is not possible to walk onward to the Wild Gorge (Dívá kamenn). The visit involves a guided boat trip through the gorge, with boatmen providing stories and interpretation of the rock formations. The walk to the gorge entrance is about 2 kilometers, regardless of the starting point.

**Safety Background**

The main reason for these restrictions is the ongoing risk of rockfalls and falling trees, a legacy of the 2022 fires. While some hazards have been mitigated, the danger has not been completely eliminated. All visits are conducted in guided groups to ensure visitor safety, and further monitoring is ongoing.

These measures reflect a cautious approach to reopening while prioritizing visitor safety in a still-fragile environment. The gorges were made accessible in the 19th century by Prince Edmund Clary-Aldringen. The vegetation in the gorges is a special feature, with cold-climate plants thriving due to the collected air.

The national park administrations in the Saxon and Bohemian Switzerland will continue to require joint action in the future. The gorge is flowed through by the Kamenice River on its way to the Elbe. In case of bad weather, the navigation will be stopped.

Visitors with strollers, dogs, young children, or people with limited mobility are currently excluded from a visit. Access to both gorges involves a good two kilometers of walking from different directions. Saxony's Minister of the Environment, Georg-Ludwig von Breitenbuch (CDU), attended the reopening of the Edmundsklamm.

The Edmundsklamm gorge reopening has imposed a protective lifestyle, as only 50 visitors per day are allowed, with strict regulations such as guided tours and ticket sales at the tourist information office in Hřensko. The home-and-garden of this natural wonder, still fragile due to the 2022 forest fires, promises a unique travel experience, offering boat tours containing intriguing stories about the rock formations and a scenic walk to the gorge entrance, albeit with restrictions for certain groups like families with strollers or individuals with limited mobility.
