The picturesque region of Krasnodar Krai in southern Russia is preparing for its annual Velvet Season, with a forecasted tourist flow expected to reach the levels of 2024. The region, known for its stunning Black Sea coastline, is a haven for tourists seeking a mix of beach relaxation and mountain trekking.

Deputy Minister of Resorts, Tourism, and Olympic Heritage of Krasnodar Krai, Inna Petukhova, has commented on the situation, expressing optimism about the upcoming season.

One of the region's unique natural attractions is the Utrish Nature Reserve, situated between Novorossiysk and Anapa. This reserve is home to rare animal and bird species, as well as groves of relict juniper that border the Black Sea. The Utrish Nature Reserve offers a tranquil escape for nature enthusiasts.

For those seeking a more active vacation, the village of Abrau-Dyurso, known as the birthplace of Russian champagne, boasts legendary mountain tunnels laid in the 19th century. Adventure seekers can explore the village's rich history while enjoying the region's vineyards and wine tastings.

Popular destinations during the Velvet Season include Goryachy Klyuch, the village of Mezmay, the Guamea Canyon in the Apsheronsky District, and the exhibition complex 'Ataman' in the Temryuk District. These locations offer high-star rated facilities, all-inclusive accommodations, and health resorts with developed infrastructure and landscaped green areas.

The region's tourist infrastructure has been maintained by the local government and tourism projects supported by regional funds before being taken over in 2024. The majority of bookings for the Velvet Season are for destinations in Sochi, Anapa, Gelendzhik, and Novorossiysk along the Black Sea.

Gelendzhik, with its beaches, nature, and 14 km long embankment, is a favourite among tourists. Sochi's ski resorts, offering the opportunity for both beach relaxation and mountain trekking, are also in high demand during this season.

As the Velvet Season in the region starts from mid-September and lasts until mid-October to early November, tourists can look forward to a variety of experiences in Krasnodar Krai. With over 8,000 accommodations offering approximately 500,000 places, there's plenty of room for everyone to enjoy this beautiful region.
