Airline SAA broadens its reach with the debut of the Cape Town to Mauritius flight route

South African Airways (SAA) is set to inaugurate its first direct service between Cape Town and Mauritius on Tuesday, 9 December 2025. The new route, part of SAA's strategic expansion, will operate three times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

The convenience of the flight schedule is a testament to SAA's mission to offer customers greater flexibility and convenience. Passengers can select from two convenient departure times: the outbound flight departs Cape Town at 09:25 AM and arrives in Mauritius at 4:30 PM, with a total flight duration of approximately five hours. The return leg departs Mauritius at 5:20 PM and arrives back in Cape Town at 9:30 PM.

Tebogo Tsimane, SAA's Chief Commercial Officer, emphasises that the convenience of the flight schedule was carefully developed to meet traveler preferences and peak holiday planning. The adjustment in the flight schedule was developed through rigorous engagement with South African tour operator partners to align with traveler preferences and peak holiday planning.

The new route supports the broader tourism objectives for both South Africa and Mauritius. SAA Chief Executive Officer, Professor John Lamola, expressed excitement about the new route, stating it as a significant achievement for the team. He added that the service will enhance connectivity for travelers in the Western Cape.

From mid-January to mid-March 2026, the frequency will be reduced to twice weekly to align with seasonal demand. Bookings for the service are now open at www.flysaa.com or through accredited travel agents. The introduction of this route demonstrates SAA's role in promoting leisure travel across the region.
