Airline Expansion: Flydubai Boosts Routes, Flyr Launches New Domestic Service, Finnair & Turkish Airlines Partner

Airline news is abuzz with route expansions and collaborations. Flydubai is boosting its Dubai-Bucharest service, while Flyr is launching a new domestic route in Norway. Meanwhile, Finnair and Turkish Airlines have joined forces in a codeshare agreement.

Starting November, Flydubai will increase its Dubai-Bucharest service to double-daily flights. This move comes as part of the airline's strategy to expand its network in Europe. Additionally, Flydubai will commence service to Cluj-Napoca, Romania, with 2X-weekly flights between Dubai and the city.

In Norway, Flyr is set to open a new domestic route between Oslo and Stavanger from October 31. This addition to Flyr's network will provide more connectivity within the country.

Across the Atlantic, Canadian airline Swoop has added a new service between Winnipeg and Orlando Sanford to its winter schedule, starting December 9. This route will offer passengers more options for winter getaways.

Finnair and Turkish Airlines have announced a significant partnership, effective September 29. The airlines will implement a codeshare agreement, with Finnair's AY code being added to Turkish Airlines' routes between Helsinki and Istanbul, and from Istanbul to several European cities. Conversely, Turkish Airlines' TK code will be added to Finnair-operated routes from Helsinki to various European destinations.

Ukrainian airline SkyUp Airlines will continue operating its Kyiv-Istanbul route and has plans to fly to Ras al Khaimah from October 23. Moreover, SkyUp has launched flights from Kyiv to Lodz and resumed a route to Prague, expanding its network in Europe.

Iceland's PLAY has added Amsterdam to its winter schedule, with flights from Reykjavik starting December 3. This new route will provide passengers with more options for winter travel to Europe.

Lastly, while the name of the airline group introducing a flight service to Cluj-Napoca, Romania, on November 3, 2021, remains unknown, the expansion of services to the city is a notable development in the region's air travel scene.

These developments in air travel, from increased services to new routes and partnerships, reflect the ongoing recovery and growth in the aviation industry. Passengers can look forward to more options and connectivity in the coming months.
